We live in a time where anything is possible. A time where we have so many resources at our fingertips that can help us step by step to actually do whatever we choose to do.
But often we don’t take action.
In this TED Talk, Mel Robbins talks about the 5 second rule. Where if you have an impulse and don’t take action within 5 seconds in some form, you will pull the emergency break and it will never happen. The problem is not a lack of ideas that could change the world or even just change yourself, it’s in creating the energy to make it happen.
Mel highlights that the answer is simple, but not easy…
It is to FORCE yourself;
- To get out of your head
- Get past your feelings
- Outside of your comfort zone
As adults we are in full control of this. But what about our children? How can we promote an environment to support taking action on impulses? And is that something that will promote creative action takers later in life?
