As a public juridic person, Mary Aikenhead Ministries continues the mission and assumes responsibility to further the ministries of the Sisters of Charity. That mission is central to its task and calls forth a response through its multiple expressions.
As Canonical Stewards of the mission, the Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries (TMAM) have a distinct ministry of leadership and are responsible for the continued viability of the ministries.

Position Overview
Position Title: Senior Accountant
Reports to: Executive Officer
Position Purpose
The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing ongoing professional support for the Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries (TMAM) in Australia.
The position is accountable to the Executive Officer to ensure all internal and statutory finance and management reporting is carried out in accordance with TMAM policies; and assistance is provided for a range of business issues.
The role dimensions include:
- Financial, management and compliance reporting
- Company secretarial duties for the Finance Audit and Risk Committee
- Banking and finance activities relating to the receipt, custody and disbursement of funds
- Insurances
- Leases, including leases for the 4 Colleges
- Monthly payroll
- Risk management
At a later stage in this project, you will be provided the position description; and briefed on the success criteria for the 12-month term of this engagement.
Relevant Aspects of the Role
- The TMAM financial year end is 30th June.
- Xero is the software used for accounting and payroll.
- External auditor is Pitcher Partners.
- Annual income is circa $5m. Note that this value for statutory reporting does not include the activities of St Vincent’s Health or the four Colleges which are a part of Mary Aikenhead Education Ltd (MAEL). These are separate legal entities not consolidated into TMAM statutory reporting.
Key Relationships
TMAM has a small office of five people. The role reports to the Executive Officer and has no direct reports. The position also works closely with the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and MAEL.
Commencement
The commencement date is negotiable, however the ideal date for MAM would be Tuesday 22nd April.
Location
The TMAM have their office at 26-30 Spring Street, Bondi Junction. This is a 5-minute walk from Bondi Junction railway station.
Conditions of Employment
- Total remuneration (salary and superannuation) will be in the range of $140,000 to $150,000 to attract the high calibre person we seek.
- This is a 12-month maternity leave contract, anticipated to be completed 1st May 2026.
- Work from home: option to work from home for 1 day each week.
- Full-time – 38 hours per week.
- A 3-month probationary period applies.
Selection Criteria
We invite expressions of interest from people who align with the following:
- A willingness and capacity to work within the mission and values of TMAM.
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting and administration, with an appreciation of a range of business issues, policies and practices, ideally within a values-based setting.
- The desire and ability to be hands-on with routine day-to-day tasks while also managing strategic level matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to present data in a readily understandable form; and interpret and explain data succinctly.
- Relevant qualifications and membership of an accounting professional body, ideally either CPA or CA.
