Grit, the true measure of success

July 3, 2018 by TrakSearch

Grit, the true measure of success

This short TED presentation on grit by Angela Lee Duckworth probably reinforces what many educators already know: that people’s success is not based around talent or IQ, but rather the ability to persevere and see long term goals through to the end.

While there is much still to learn in this space, Amy explores the well-known educational idea of a “growth mindset” for building grit. In short:

  • The belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, that it can change with effort; and
  • That failure is not a permanent condition

But this is only the beginning…

So how are you fostering grit in others? What has worked, what hasn’t?

Watch the short 6-minute TED Talk here to listen to Amy.
