In this motivating TED Talk, Adam Poswolsky shares his 3 key lessons to find a career path with purpose. His address is aimed at a student audience. With over 70% of employees seemingly being disenchanted with their jobs, Adam presents this talk in an attempt to help future generations avoid ending up in a similar position.
His own experiences led him to finding 3 key lessons:
Find Believers
Finding people who believe in you and your ideas. Those that encourage you to turn the ideas into reality. When you find believers, you find accountability. And accountability is a very powerful tool to drive change.
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Find what’s meaningful to you. People often choose a career path because of external factors. Instead, try to understand what are the most important things to you. We often think that the grass greener somewhere else. The reality is, is that no one has it figured out. What you look at from the outside is seldom the reality behind the scenes. So why compare yourself to something that isn’t probably real in the first place?
Have to Start Hustling
The key to this is to do so with intention and purpose. And “make the ask”. Get out there and make things happen. You never know what opportunity is around the next corner. Who you might meet, what doors they may open. Humans love to help others, it’s a natural thing to do. And people love to support people that have a purpose.
