Queensland

Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton (CEDR) serves communities from Bundaberg in the south to Mackay in the north and west to Longreach. It is a large, dynamic and growing organisation with a current enrolment of approximately 18,220 students and a staff of approximately 3,400 in Kindergartens, Early Learning Centres, Outside School Hours Care Services, 31 Catholic Primary Schools and 8 Catholic Secondary Colleges.

Principals within CEDR are supported by the staff of the Catholic Education Office in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Catholic Identity, First Nations Education, ICT, Finance, Strategy, Business Development, Human Resources and Student Protection.

 Shalom College Bundaberg

Established in 1984, Shalom College is a part of the CEDR system of schools. It is a co-educational YRS 7-12 College with approx. 1569 students. It is the only Catholic secondary college in the Bundaberg region.

Shalom College is set on thirteen hectares on the outskirts of West Bundaberg. The College also has a campus of eighty-five hectares at South Bingera twenty-three kilometres west of Bundaberg. This campus provides students with outdoor activities, environmental education and a venue for camps and retreats.

Shalom College offers a diverse curriculum through a modern, well-equipped school with a wide range of co-curricular activities including instrumental music, choirs, interschool sport, retreats and camps.

Living and Working in Bundaberg

With a population of over 100,000, Bundaberg is where Queensland’s coastal lifestyle meets community. The city connects easily to Brisbane via air or train. It is a growing regional hub with infrastructure projects such as a new Bundaberg Hospital. Bundaberg is a ‘right-size’ city with big opportunities—and a backyard that’s world-class.
