The Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, through the Catholic Education Office, supports 26 primary, four K-10 schools and four secondary schools, with approximately 9,000 students located throughout a significant area of rural NSW. In partnership with parents and parishes, their schools are committed to fostering Gospel values, academic excellence and life-long service in a faith-centred community. Catherine McAuley Catholic Primary School is a new school which is anticipated to grow to more than 500 students after opening in January 2012. It will incorporate two existing, high performing schools located on the one site in Orange: a K-2 Infants school and a Year 3-6 Primary school.

The Principal is responsible for the leadership and management of a school as an authentic Catholic educational community. The Principal is also accountable to the Diocesan community of schools, the wider Church community and government statutory authorities, through the Executive Director of Schools and the Schools Consultant.

The Executive Director of Catholic Schools invites applications from people able to demonstrate:

  • Personal commitment to the teachings and practice of the Catholic Faith and able to lead a school as a faith filled Catholic community;
  • A career in primary school education with significant leadership experience;
  • Energy and genuine passion for education, students and student wellbeing;
  • The ability to articulate a vision for the purpose and identity of the new school and the skill to facilitate the involvement of stakeholders in shaping and implementing this vision;
  • Welcoming, visible and accessible to the school and wider communities;
  • An understanding of contemporary educational thinking and capable of driving teaching & learning that caters for the diverse range of students and student needs.
